ABB M3AA Process Performance aluminium motors

What is the M3AA?

The M3AA series is ABB's Process Performance aluminium line, substantially lighter than a comparable cast iron motor (often 30-40% weight advantage) and cheaper to purchase. For applications without heavy shock loading or extreme ambient temperature this is the commercially most attractive alternative.

• Power range 0.06 kW to 90 kW
• IE classes: IE2 and IE3
• Pole counts 2/4/6/8
• IP55 standard
• B3, B5, B14, B35 mounting forms
• Lightweight, particularly relevant for mobile and high-mounted applications
• Lower noise level than comparable cast iron motor

Aluminium or cast iron, which fits you?

Not sure whether you need an M3AA (aluminium) or M3BP (cast iron)? Generally: aluminium for clean, dry, non-shock, lower power up to ~90 kW; cast iron for heavy, humid, shock-loaded, higher power. When in doubt: send us your application details, we advise within 24 hours which type fits.
